This is a simple and brief how-to install a network printer on a computer attached to the network using Windows 7. There are a couple different ways you can do this and it's very easy to do! This how-to is written under the presumption that you already have the actual printer and the printer drivers installed on your print server.

If your printer is installed, it should appear under Printers. If your printer isn’t listed, tap or click Add a device, and then select your printer to install it. To install (add) a local printer. How to Install a Network Printer on Your Home or Office Network. Click Next and you’ll get another wizard to add a TCP / IP printer port. On the main wizard screen click Next. In the first text box, Printer Name or IP Address, enter the IP address from the printer configuration sheet you printer earlier. To install or add a local printer. In most cases, all you have to do to set up a printer is to connect it to your PC. Simply plug the USB cable from your printer into an available USB port on your PC, and turn the printer on. Go to Start Settings Devices Printers and Scanners. Look in Printers & Scanners to see if your printer is installed.
Click the Windows Start button. In the dialog box, type in and the name of the print server. For example, acmeprintserver then press the Enter key.

A separate window will open up with a list of printers you have installed on the print server.

Find the printer you want to install and double-click that printer. Windows will automatically download the printer drivers and install that printer to the computer you wish to install the printer to.

After a few moments, the printer will complete the installation and another window displaying the print queue will open. This is normal - just close out the print queue window. Feel free to set the new printer you just added as your default printer.
Remember, there is another way to add printers to a computer. Please refer to Step 5 below.
Step 5: 5
Click the Windows Start button. Navigate to Devices and Printers then left click this menu. A separate window opens up. Navigate to the top left window and click Add a printer.
Step 6: 6
Another window opens up with two choices. Navigate to the bottom option, Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer. Again, another window opens up with a few choices to make.
A list of printers will be displayed on top. Navigate to the selection on the bottom of this window and choose The printer that I want isn't listed.

Again, another window will open up giving you three choices to select. Navigate to the last radio button, Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname. Click Next.
A dropdown menu has three options to choose from. You can leave it set to autodetect if you wish, but sometimes I like to select TCP/IP Device.
Tab down to the next field and type in the IP address of the printer (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). There is also a check mark in the box Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use.
Feel free to leave this option selected or you may wish to uncheck this and manually select the driver yourself. This is only recommended for advanced users!
Step 8: 8
After a few moments, the printer will be installed. Continue following the prompts. When the printer has been installed you may close all other open windows mentioned in this how-to.

You may choose to set the printer you just added as your default printing device.
I'll admit that the second route to add a printer is a bit longer or may sound a little convoluted but it does work both ways. Be careful when you choose the second route though - you cannot have duplicate IP addresses when adding that printer. If you do, the computer will automatically name it xxx.xxx.xxx._x so make sure you have the right IP and if you do, just follow the prompts.
